Elton De Villiers

Project Manager

Elton de Villiers is a dedicated Project Manager with a background in construction and contract management. He brings a diverse range of hands-on experience to EDG.Space, blending practical experience and academic credentials - making him a valuable asset to our team.

Background and Experience

Elton’s interest in building design and construction developed early on, fuelled by a fascination with how ideas transform into physical structures. He has completed a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification from PMI, and a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management from the University of Canberra.

Elton has worked in various roles within the construction industry, beginning his career with hands-on roles. He’s worked as a Contracts Administrator, Project Administrator/Estimator, Construction Labourer and Assistant Electrician. His formal education, combined with his experience, sparked his interest in project management and building design.

As Project Manager, Elton not only brings extensive experience in site delivery but he also contributes to the design process. He oversees multiple projects simultaneously, coordinates logistics and procurement, manages stakeholders, handles document control, and identifies cost-saving initiatives. He also oversees cost reporting, ensuring we complete our projects on time and within budget.

He’s currently enjoying learning the design aspect of projects. “Previously, my focus was delivering projects onsite, so transitioning into a role where I’m involved in both oversight and design has been incredibly rewarding”, he says.

Challenges, Interesting Projects and Influences

Elton has been involved in several large-scale projects, including establishing 103 apartments and 12 townhouses in Ivanhoe East. The sheer scale of these projects taught him how to effectively manage resources and timelines to meet ambitious targets.

He has also worked on multiple defence projects, introducing him to stringent protocols and environmental constraints. These experiences have broadened his skill set, enabling him to manage diverse project types with confidence and precision.

The most influential person in Elton’s career has been his aunt, a trailblazer in the construction industry. Her success and perseverance in a traditionally male-dominated field inspired him to pursue his path in construction with resilience and dedication.
